THE VILLAGE ON CLAYTON POND

Picture
Clayton Pond was established in 1991 as a zoned single-family neighborhood in Edmond, Oklahoma.  The subdivision is conveniently located off 2nd Street west of IH-35.  It is a short commute to Tinker Air Force Base (approx. 21 miles) and downtown Oklahoma City (approx. 18 miles). Edmond is home to the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian University.

Clayton Pond homeowners enjoy a neighborhood pool and six ponds with beautiful common areas.  The ponds are stocked with bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill. The neighborhood is located within the Edmond Public School district and is served by Will Rogers Elementary School, Central Middle School, and Edmond Memorial High School.

Mary Meritt
Ray, Stephannie, and I have been part of Clayton Pond for seven years. As a member of the HOA Board, I have enjoyed my time working to improve the neighborhood.
I received my doctorate from Oklahoma State University and retired as Assistant Superintendent of Public Instruction at the Oklahoma State Department of Education. I am a member of the Edmond Historic Preservation Trust and the Oklahoma Territorial Museum Board in Guthrie and serve as the Regent for Samuel King Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
I want to invite each of you to attend our meetings and learn how the board functions for you. Please plan to join Clayton Pond Volunteers in 2025 and make this affordable neighborhood a beautiful place in which to raise your children. I am anxiously watching for buds on the newly planted trees along 2nd Street at our entrance. The trees are the result of a grant from the City of Edmond, Urban Forestry Department.

DaRenda Hanson
Originally from Weatherford, Oklahoma, I moved to Edmond in 2001 to attend UCO—while in Edmond, I met my husband, David.  Except for a 2.5 year stent when we moved to San Antonio, we haven’t left!  Edmond is home to us and we have enjoyed living in Clayton Pond for the last seven years.  We have two boys, Dane (13) and Cooper (9).  I am an Accountant and a Financial Coach, and an avid DIYer around the house. We enjoy the neighborhood pool many evenings in the summer, and watching football on our patio in the fall. I would like to serve on the board to have a hand in helping and do my part to improve the neighborhood for everyone.

Delisa McKinzie
My name is Delisa McKinzie. We have lived in Edmond for over 30 years. My husband, Wes, and I have been married for 34 years and we have two children, Mikayla and Schad. Mikayla is the choir director at Heartland Middle School and Schad is a junior at Edmond Memorial. We have lived in Clayton Pond since December 2024.
In our previous neighborhood, I served as the President of our HOA and then Treasurer once my term ended.I would love to be on the Clayton Pond HOA Board to continue serving because I love this neighborhood and I want to help keep it such a great place to live.

Charlotte Goddard
Charlotte Goddard moved to Clayton Pond in 1994. Originally from Texas, she feels that OK is as close to home as her friends and family in Houston. Her first career was a kindergarten teacher in Houston.
After that, she worked for the City of Houston, the Houston Aviation Department, Southwest Airlines in Dallas, and pharmaceutical sales management in OK for 20 years.  She retired in 2018, and her “interests/hobbies” include being “Gram” for two granddaughters (ages 9and 12), family, friends, and neighborhood.
Her most prominent role in the Clayton Pond has been to serve as Treasurer for multiple years.
This year, Charlotte hopes to inspire neighbors to get more involved and become better acquainted with volunteer activities and the wonderful people in Clayton Pond.

Stephanie Qualls
I am Stephanie Qualls.  I have lived in Clayton Pond since January of 1997.  My husband and I both have served on the board from time to time, and we are both very invested in the welfare of the neighborhood.  We have worked on the Easter Egg hunt, neighborhood clean day and cookout, and the October Fest. I enjoy knowing what is going on in the neighborhood and would like to serve on the board again this year.

Darren Metzger
My name is Darren Metzger, my wife Linda and I have lived here in Clayton pond going on 5 years. My wife is a native Oklahoman and I’m originally from Utah. The military brought me to Oklahoma in the 80’s and I’ve called it home since except for 8 years we lived overseas. We have 3 children and 2 grandchildren with one on the way.
I recently retired from civil service where I worked in aircraft maintenance as a mechanic and supervision. At this point in my life I have time on my hands and would like to devote some of it to improving things in this wonderful neighborhood.

Jim Svetgoff

Jim Svetgoff is a native of Oklahoma City and graduated from U. S. Grant high school.  He then attended UCO (Central State University at the time) and graduated with a degree in Chemistry.  Jim spent the next 47 years working in the oil industry: 23 of those years with Baker Hughes and the last 8 years with Devon.  He retired in 2022.  Jim and his late wife Cheryl were married for 40 years before she passed away from cancer in 2021.  They had 2 children and 8 grandchildren.  Jim married Denise Peabody in 2022.  Denise lost her husband Gary to cancer three months before Cheryl died.  They had been married 40 years and had 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Gary and Denise were the original owners of the home at 108 Berkshire Drive.  Both had been active in the Clayton Pond HOA for many years and did a lot of volunteer work for the neighborhood. Jim and Cheryl attended church with Gary and Denise for 20 years.  After their spouses died, Jim and Denise had dinner with each other as friends a few times and that eventually led to an incredibly wonderful marriage.  The original plan after the honeymoon was to sell their homes and buy a new house that would be “theirs”.  Jim sold his home, but after looking for “their” house for several months they decided to remain in Denise’s home.  Jim loved the neighborhood and their neighbors and bought a 50% interest in Denise’s home.  His love for the neighborhood made him want to be on the HOA board.  Jim and Denise now have 5 children and 16 grandchildren whom they try to see regularly.  They love to travel and have been to Hawaii (honeymoon), France, Switzerland and Italy since getting married.
